I made these today and aside from making the house smell WONDERFUL, they taste pretty good too!
1/2 C shortening
1 1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
1 C pumpkin
1 C nuts- or not
1 C chocolate chips
1 t vanilla
3 C flour
1 t baking powder
1 t soda
1/2 t salt
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t nutmeg
Combine all wet ingredients, then add dry. Grease cookie sheet, bake at 365 for approx. 10 minutes. Makes 4 dozen.

these turned out great. and as nat said, the aroma they produced was awesome. my husband doesn't like chocolate chips with anything pumpkin, so i just did nuts, but they were great.
